Pacific Graphics scholarship foundation had over 40 entrants. Using a select dieline, I created a winning design – a wine carrier, but it was so much more than that. The brief for the design was open-ended, so I took it one step further.

I created a brand and designed an extension of said brand to further explore the product in depth.

I incorporated my values in universally accessible design into the project through the addition of accessible elements such as Type 1 Unicode Braille.

Brand Extension

To better help tell the story of the product, I used the following text as a guiding light to the brand extension, of the actual wine you find in the box:

Grace Wines is based in Berkeley, California and ages their grapes and wine in Napa county. The fine wines produced by Grace take inspiration from the traditional ways of old Italy.

With authentic recipes and tastes of the highest quality, our wines surprise experienced and new wine lovers alike. The wines at Grace pair well with any occasion, with traditional and unique flavors bound to surprise and impress all wine lovers.

Braille Accessibility

This page highlights one of the renders utilizing Braille.

The Braille is specially printed on the product using a specific coating treatment. The coating used is a UV spot varnish, in order to create the raised surface effect needed for the Braille.

In working on this project, I enjoyed learning more about making packaging more accessible.

With every project I create, I focus on executing a strong artistic vision, but more importantly I believe in the importance of creating more accessibility and equity in the world, so I make sure to incorporate that into all of my work.
