In a packaging class we were tasked with redesigning a package over the course of 10 weeks. AJOVY’s migraine medicine’s packaging was inaccessible to the diverse group of patients it serves, in addition it was being packaged in an inefficient and wasteful manner. So we sought to correct that through a package redesign.

The amazing team I worked with included: Jordan Hossini, Katie Ann Lang.

Process

In this eight-week project, I coordinated work outside of scheduled meetings – I primarily worked on creating dielines for the new product, 3D models in Esko, and researching production and sustainability issues using MRI Media Mark.

On the design end, I contributed to the design with ideas, colors, and drafts of the product design.

We met at least once a week for revisions and feedback-based discussion to improve the product, creating over 10 versions of the product, iterating and refining it extensively to best suit the audience we set out to redesign for.

Final Design & Report

The final product was a great success. The design was more approachable, yet still professional and safe for younger users of the product. The final outcome also incorporated accessibility for those who are color blind – as we checked to make sure the color combination was color-blind safe. We additionally increased the use of efficient space, and dose amount. The space of one package could now fit 15 times the amount of product – creating cost efficiency for the company and ease of use for the customer.
